Even if your painting technique is not where you want it to be yet, this class will help you learn how to plan your projects to make the most of your abilities and to make the right impact. A good mini is well painted. A great mini is 75% thought and 25% technique.
Learn to sculpt dwarves with Tom Mason. Utilizing basic to more advanced techniques, students will learn to sculpt dwarves from precast armature as well as how to create their own custom made armatures. In addition students will learn more advanced techniques for sculpting all those dwarfy details that make dwarves so … dwarfy. Along with instruction students will receive precast armatures and putty. All other materials will be provided for use.
This class covers every aspect of miniature painting from start to finish. Get familiar with blending your colors, learn how to do proper metallics and discover the various techniques to make a face stand out. Learn how the pros do it in a time frame that will allow us to make it happen. This class is open to new comers and experienced painters who want to bring their painting to a higher level. Everyone gets the same Dark Sword Miniature and 45 minutes to show us what you can do! Compete for fun and the chance for prizes in one of our six qualifying round sessions. The final session is a Speed Championship on Sunday (with a new mini) to determine the Dark Sword - Top Gun for Speed Painting - Gen Con 2010! Can you race the clock and be judged the best speed painter? Prizes for 1st - 3rd place in the Championship round will be awarded.
Sculpting with Greenstuff & Miniature Manipulation
Description:
Winner of 14 Golden Demons Joe Orteza teaches different aspects of figure conversion from basic to advanced and the use of 'GreenStuff'. Joe discusses different techniques from singular competition models to large units for tournament play. Learn to utilize Green Stuff for figure embellishment and sculpting. Students receive a 5 pick set and 3 individual sculpting tools, fine tweezers, a glass sculpting surface and an instructional pamphlet.
Tom Schadle, winner of 25 Golden Demons and the Slayer Sword, will be demonstrating his style of highlighting, shading, and blending. No wet blending here, but instead expert tips and tricks to get a smooth transition of color using layered highlights through paint mixing, thinning, glazing and varnishing. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own current WIPs for practice and critique, as well as their own brushes.
