The pirates of the ship The Bloodwynd sail the seas for treasure and a chance to knock their rivals, the Sea Wraiths and The Wizard Lupus out of the pirating business. Some ancient underwater menace has been rumored to have taken the wife of the ship's captain. So far nobody on the ship believes in such rumors, except for a few foolish adventurers and their pet dragon.
