We've been running Call of Cthulhu at Gen Con for decades and like teaching people how to play. During this event, we will briefly talk basic rules, characters, horror role playing, and then we will run a scenario. We run games that focus on story, character interaction, and problem solving. While other types of play style are welcome to come, we usually find that communicating our style really helps set our players in the right mindset. In the short scenario, the players with portray investigator in the normal world solving a seemingly normal (if unusual) issue. The longest war in American history wears on, with no end in sight. Afghanistan, The Graveyard of Empires. Great Britain and The Soviet Union abandoned their occupations. Before them: Alexander the Great, the Mauryans, the Kabul Shahi, the Arabs, the Mongols, the Timurids; names that shaped the history books were all driven in defeat from this mountainous plateau. The history of Afghanistan traces back through the centuries to the Crusades, to the prophets Muhammad and Jesus, to the Great Enlightened Indian civilizations, to the misty dawn of Buddhism.
