You Revealed your Tragic Backstory Session 1, What Next?
Summary:
There’s a lot of different ways to create a character for a tabletop game, from writing out a whole novel before session 1 to shrugging and figuring it out as it goes.
Description:
It can be very tempting to hold onto whatever details and secrets you write before the game, but what if I told you there was a different way? In this panel we explore a style of play that encourages getting all your backstory information out in the open, and discovering where your character, and the story, goes from there, providing advice and tools for both player characters and GMs to help create the perfect drama for everyone. A panel that explores playing with a backstory first approach, where you reveal the details you've prepared before the game as soon as possible so you have time to explore others' reactions. Advice for how to develop characters, plot, and drama once all your pre-prepared tools are already out in the open, how to GM now that the secrets are out there etc.
