Learn advanced techniques to assemble detailed gaming terrain using Hirst Arts blocks.
Description:
Attendees will be given Hirst Arts blocks, fast-drying glue, and other tools to provide hands-on experience in shaping, distressing, and assembling miniature terrain. A variety of blocks will be provided for you to build and customize a terrain piece of your own. Finally, basic painting and flocking techniques will be taught to bring your terrain piece to life.
Come get a mini, paint it, and learn with others as you do it! One ticket will get you one mini. You are welcome to take your time and paint any minis you have with you. VIGs and VIG Companions only.
"Painting 102" class. With the core skills under your belt, this class will focus on the basics of shading and highlighting and is geared for the newer painter.
Hands-on class: Learn techniques to get better blends, shift color, and smoother highlights on your miniatures. Miniatures from Dark Sword. Paints are RMS from Reaper Miniatures.
Description:
This hands-on class will have you learning the advanced techniques of feathering and glazing to achieve smoother blends and highlights, and shift colors for fun effects or just to correct. I will supply all but the brush, so bring the pointiest brush you have, and follow me step-by-step as I show you on my miniature, and then guide you as you paint your miniature. No need for notes, I also provide a handout with instructions and tips for you to guide you at home. Miniatures provided by Dark Sword Miniatures. Paints are RMS from Reaper Miniatures. As time allows, please feel free to bring in your current projects for critique, advice, or practice. Contact me via email if you have any questions or concerns.
The class will be taught by Joe Orteza, 14 time Golden Demon winner and formerly trained art instructor. Students will learn to utilize green stuff for miniature model embellishment and sculpting.

This class will focus on figure conversion and the use of “green stuff” Kneadtite sculpting putty. Students will learn different aspects of figure conversion, from basic to advanced. The class will touch on the pose of the figure, basing, and the theme of model. Joe will discuss different techniques from single display models to large units. Students will learn to utilize green stuff for figure embellishment and sculpting.
Students will receive four hand picked sculpting tools, tweezers, pen, glass sculpting surface and an instructional pamphlet as part of the course fee. Also Joe will demonstrate some new techniques exclusive to the class.

Join award-winning painter Rhonda ‘Wren’ Bender for a hands-on look at painting transparent fabric on miniature figures. Topics include choosing a good miniature for the effect, visualizing the transparent material and the skin underneath, how the cloth affects the colour of the underlying skin, and colour choices for shades and highlights to best simulate the effect. Each attendee receives a free high-quality figure from Dark Sword Miniatures, and a 5-page colour hand-out. Paints and other supplies are provided, but you are encouraged to bring a good brush.
