The adventure begins assuming the characters are on the road, en route to a particular destination. Read the following aloud to get started:
Description:
The trees around the road suddenly open to reveal a gently roll-ing plain, with a small village in the distance. A handful of wood¬en buildings are clustered along the road ahead and plumes of smoke drift from their chimneys. As you draw closer to town, you notice a large bald man approaching you. “I noticed that you lot hold yourselves well, and your blades and armor isn’t just for show. I beg of you to assist me in finding my missing daughter.”
Rumors of a lost treasure near an abandoned outpost has caused the characters to be hired by a nobleman funding an expedition.
Description:
While in the great city of Vaslof, the characters are approached by Will Jaspar. Jaspar is the agent of Lord Renton Villers, as he was sent forth to hire a group of capable looking individuals for an expedition. Jaspar is rather silent on the matter, as he has little knowledge of the specifics, but he encourages them to attend an audience with his employer.
The adventure begins with the characters going about their business in town & quickly they realize that there are a number of ill townsfolk.
Description:
Centuries ago, when the town was little more than a few farmers and a trading outpost, a minor noble constructed a small keep with a single tower. This keep was perched upon a rocky outcropping, and from the tower's battlements one could see for miles. However, in time, the noble perished, and the tower was assaulted by the forces of nature. The wooden supports rotted away, stones fell, and eventually the tower collapsed in upon itself. The trading outpost encouraged others to build nearby. Roadside inns sprang up, as did houses and other places of business. In time a small village became a bustling town at the crossroads, and only those that ventured into the nearby forest knew of the tower.
