This workshop will help gamers recognize & intervene in problematic situations during games making gaming safe for all.
Description:
As gamers, we have all had things happen in our games which we look back on and wish we had responded differently to. Whether it be someone being treated unfairly or as simple as an imbalance in who gets to talk the most. Realizing that social barriers and micro-aggressions exist which make gaming less enjoyable or even miserable for some gamers, we can actively train ourselves to know when and how to speak up, help out, and make our beloved hobby a safe and enjoyable space for everyone. This workshop will give allies and gamers from underrepresented groups tools to recognize and respond to micro-agressions and other problematic situations during games. Through conscious practice we can work to ward off problems, recognize problems, and intervene when they arise.
An easy workshop on how to better get into character. Great for roleplaying, writing, performing, & mental health.
Description:
As written about in Gnome Stew: http://www.gnomestew.com/general/getting-into-character-with-easy-mental-exercise/ After introductions, attendees will say a short sentence as a fictional character I provide them. I will then guide the group through a short meditation. After the meditation, we will repeat our sentences again in order to compare performances. The focus is on how we feel in character. We will not be judged on our acting or performance skills.
