Pressed into the Western Fleet, you've been given a chance to prove yourself. Earn glory and the Empress's favor, and you'll be adopted into one of the Great Houses, given prestige, power, riches. Or die unknown and forgotten, shark-chum like the last batch of rotten lost eggs.
You've little choice other wise - the Pirate King of Coral has been rumored to make a deal with the Deathlord the Bodhisattva Anointed by Dark Waters. If the deal goes through, then the West will be awash in blood, and all who die will rise again under the Deathlord's banner.
