Wow! Experience a game that is at the roots of the roleplaying games! This game shares its 50th Anniversary with Gen Con! A fast & furious roleplaying game run by designer David Wesely!
Description:
This is your chance to experience a game that is at the roots of the roleplaying games: Braunstein! This game shares its 50th Anniversary with Gen Con! Indeed, 5 decades ago a remarkable thing happened when Dave Wesley refereed a game for his Napoleonic wargaming group, including Dave Arneson. As the players arrived they were each given a role to play within the German town of Braunstein: mayor, banker, student, Prussian army scout, etc. Soon each became immersed in a dynamic roleplaying experience with more than two sides, more than one objective, cooperative and competitive play, without any clear winner or conclusion. Considered a chaotic failure by Wesley, his players didn’t care – it was fun! Thus the seed of roleplaying games had been sown and would later be cultivated by Dave Arneson and Gary Gygax into the game we all know and love – D&D!

Each half-hour we will run a mini tournament for up to 6 players. If your score is among the top knights, you fill out a brief form with your jousting strategy. The form will then be compared to the other top knights in an automatic quarter & semi-final elimination. If the two finalists can meet for a final joust in the Grand Tournament on Sunday, then they will meet face to face to determine the Gen Con 50 Jousting Champion! If the Grand Tournament can not be arranged the finalists' original forms will be compared to determine a winner!

Description:
Players sit down at a dedicated gaming table be set up with a beautiful diorama of vintage 70mm Elastolin figures and coconuts! Face off with one of your friends or make a new one and challenge them to a tilt! It just takes 5 to 10 minutes to joust, each player marks their aiming point & defense, compares it to their opponents and determines the outcome!
