Improve Your Miniature Figure Painting from Intermediate to Advanced
Summary:
How to interpret criticism and evaluate your work so you can: increase contrast, improve basing, use colour more complexly, and much more. Includes 10-page handout with tips and exercises.
Description:
You've taken classes or watched videos on painting techniques in the past. You've got a handle on the major miniature painting techniques, but maybe there’s more to it than how you use a brush. This is the class I wish I could have taken a few years after I started painting. I've analyzed my own experiences and talked to other advanced level painters to try to identify what they do differently. We’ll discuss how to better assess your work and interpret the criticism of others. (The dreaded phrase 'needs more contrast' can actually refer to a number of different things, which we’ll review in detail.) Other topics include use of colour, scene setting and dioramas, and tailoring your work for various kinds of contests. You’ll receive a 10 page colour handout that includes diagrams and reference photos, and suggests tips and exercises you can try at home to propel yourself to the next level.
