This workshop will explore how games and RPGs can provide educators with the opportunity to make course material engaging and deeply informative. Course ideas and outlines will be provided.
Long Description:
RPGs have been proven to improve creativity - they also offer the opportunities to bring out complexities in course content that cannot be easily discovered in any other way. This workshop will provide some examples of how I have used Fate Core RPG in engineering and science classrooms to simulate ethically difficult meetings as well as combustion chemistry and Microscope RPG to do explore engineering design. Additionally, games such as Snake Oil and other table top games provide a creative way for students to explore course content. I will provide you with my course content and do a run-through of a few examples and we will use those to develop new ones based on your classroom needs. Bring your gaming course content, ideas, and suggestions to share with all.
